1911 Combat Commander Bobtail

LaRoe, 11 May 2010.

The Commander Classic Bobtail is a 4.25-inch, series-70 style 1911 semi-automatic handgun featuring a stainless steel frame and forged stainless steel slide dehorned and matched to three-dot tritium night sights; a forged, one-piece match-grade barrel and bushing; Ed Brown Bobtail mainspring housing, memory groove grip safety and slide stop; beveled mag well, lowered and flared ejection port; checkered front strap; extended thumb safety and extended serrated magazine catch.

Dan Wesson's Commander Classic shipped with diamond-checkered Coco Bolo grips, which have been replaced on this specimen with smooth, oiled ebony grips from Ahrends (highly recommended as a source for custom grips) with the intention of giving the piece a more workman-like appearance.

CZ, the parent company to Dan Wesson, discontinued production of the Commander Classic Bobtail in 2010. Its last suggested retail price was 1658 (USD). The closest thing in the currently produced CZ line is the "Valor" series, with an MSRP of 1864 (stainless) to 2181 (black).
